Getting Namaqualand
back to work.
A specialist vocational rehabilitation practice — functional capacity evaluations, job analysis and case management that get injured and ill employees safely back into the workplace.
OT · Founder & Director
About the practice
Vocational rehabilitation, led by someone who has done both sides of it.
I started as a senior occupational therapist in the public service, running the caseload for Nama Khoi, Khai-Ma, Kamiesberg and Richtersveld — a 40-plus client week with no shortage of make-a-plan resourcefulness. In 2019 I founded my own practice to bring that same rigour to vocational rehabilitation, working directly with employers, insurers and the mining sector across the Northern Cape.
Today my work is focused: functional capacity evaluations, job analysis, worksite visits and the case management that turns an assessment into an actual return to work. I've mentored fourth- to sixth-year medical students from Stellenbosch University, and I still treat every case — whether it's a single FCE or a multi-month reintegration — as a project with a plan, a timeline and a report someone can act on.

Services
Assessment and case management built around one question: can this person safely do this job?
Every service below is aimed at answering it — for the employer deciding on a role, the insurer managing a claim, or the employee working out what comes next.
Job Analysis
A structured breakdown of a role's physical, cognitive and environmental demands — the reference point every other assessment is measured against.
Worksite Visits
On-site evaluation of the actual working environment, task by task, to identify risk, fit and reasonable accommodation.
Functional Capacity Evaluations
WorkWell-certified testing of maximum safe functional ability: lifting and carrying, walking, sitting, standing, repetitive squatting, forward bend, overhead reach, push/pull, ladder climb, kneel/crawl, crouch and hand coordination — measured against the real demands of the job.
Functional Assessments
Broader assessment of a person's functional ability, used for incapacity, disability and reintegration decisions.
Case Management
Coordinating employer, insurer, healthcare provider and employee through a single, accountable case plan — from referral to sign-off.
Return-to-Work Programmes
Evidence-based, phased reintegration plans designed for the specific person and the specific job, not a generic template.
Driving Assessments
Fitness-to-drive evaluation for employees whose roles depend on it — currently in development.
Psychiatric FCEs
Functional capacity evaluation extended to psychiatric presentations — currently in development.
How an assessment runs
Standardised tools, applied to a real person's real job.
Grip strength, fine motor dexterity, lifting tolerance, sustained postures — every test is chosen because it tells us something specific about whether a person can meet the demands of the role in front of them, not because it's on a checklist.
The result is a report an employer, insurer or medical practitioner can actually use: clear findings, clear recommendations, and a clear next step.
Process
From referral to reintegration
A vocational rehabilitation case moves through the same four stages, whether it's a single FCE or a case managed over several months.
Referral
Employer, insurer or medical practitioner refers the case, with the job and the question at hand clearly scoped.
Assessment
Job analysis, worksite visit and/or FCE — the right combination of tools for that specific role and person.
Report & recommendation
Findings translated into a plain, actionable report: fit for duty, accommodations needed, or a phased return.
Reintegration & case management
Return-to-work programme implemented and monitored until the case is safely closed out.
Case management
One point of contact, several moving parts.
A vocational rehabilitation case usually involves an employer, an insurer, one or more healthcare professionals, and the employee themselves. I manage that coordination directly — scheduling, reporting and communication handled through the full life of the case, so nothing stalls waiting on a handoff.
Who I work with
Referrals from anyone with a stake in the outcome
Employers & HR
Job analysis, post-offer testing and worksite visits to make sound placement and accommodation decisions.
Insurers & case managers
Independent FCEs and functional assessments to support incapacity and disability claim decisions.
Medical practitioners
Objective functional data to inform fitness-for-duty and return-to-work recommendations.
Employees
A clear assessment process and an advocate for a safe, realistic route back into the workplace.
